August Favorites

Hey y'all,

It has been almost a month since I blogged and I'm sorry if you stopped by and were sad to see this space had not been updated. I have spent the last month busy at my new job and trying to spend lots of quality time investing in people. From friends who went through unexpected breakups, driving to Charlotte in order to have lunch and catch up with my sorority big, and seeing my parents a lot between moving out my old bed frame and them coming to help replace my car battery life has been great. I thought I would share ten of my favorite things, events, products, etc. from the last month.

one. The Olympics. Every time the Olympics come around I tend to stop all other activity during prime-time TV time. I mean, I was a competitive swimmer as a child so I was glued to the tv every night and anytime I hung out with others who were not swimmers it was fun to inform them of all the various rules and quirks of competitive swimming like lane locations.
We decorated the apartment for the Olympic Games

two. 6am workouts. Y'all, if you know me in real life you know how much I value sleep but this week I have been getting in a workout at 6am. Just 30 quiet minutes of cardio to start my day. Let's hope I can make this a consistent change. I have a friend that I text in the morning when my workout is complete.

three.Stress Relief Lotion in Eucalyptus Tea. I bought this on a whim when I went to Bath and Body Works with a friend. I love the sleep aromatherapy pillow mist but this new scent was amazing and the lotion sits on my desk at work. I'm now interested to smell the sandalwood and rose scent they just released.

fourSimplified Planner. Y'all, I will post a full review but I have been loving my planner especially when I have had busy weeks. The to-do list everyday is probably my favorite feature. The calendar year planners release next week.
five. New Bed. So I officially upgraded from the bunk beds I have slept in the majority of my life (think 5 years old). Yep, I'm now a real adult. The bunk beds were a blessing when I moved out of my parent's house since it meant I didn't have to purchase a bed frame or mattresses but now that my baby sister has an official full time job I gifted the bunk bed to her. I am still debating on rearranging my room now but we shall see.
From This..
 To This...

six. Naked Smokey Palette. I have surprisingly been loving this palette for quick looks for daytime and evening.

seven. Romance Reads. I have always been a fan of historical romance and this month I got back into reading some of my favorite authors. I am almost done with Elizabeth Boyle's It Rhymes With Love series and I read the Love by Numbers series by Sarah Maclean when I realized it connects back with the Rules of Scoundrels series so I am rereading those books.

eight.Cat Drama Complete. So I wrote on my blog that I was becoming a cat mom. Essentially, my parents have two cats and this summer due to one of the cats becoming aggressive towards the other (she puffed up and went after our boy cat twice) the cats have been separated. After trips to the vet and some of the medicine not working out my parents decided that I would take in one of the cats. Well, about a week after that decision was finalized the cats saw each other and were fine and even played together well. We have been cautious since then but they are doing well. They do have a pheromone plugin that we think is contributing to keeping them calm and okay but so far its been over a month of them back together and no major worries.

nine. C9 Champion Women's Performance Cami. I grabbed three of these tanks this past weekend and I am already in love. The loose fit is flattering and my local Target had them on clearance for 50% off.

ten. Dairy Free Items. Since I am now dairy-free this month I found even more options/swaps for me to enjoy, from vegan pizza, butter, cookie dough, bottled ranch, and more. I might even make a separate post one of these days.

What have been your favorites this month?

Tell Me About It Stud

Hey y'all,

When my life is not an emotional roller coaster I will post more but I will let you know that I have beautiful photos from the wedding I was in to share as well as some exciting news in regards to becoming a pet mom.

However, that's not today's topic. I always wore fun earrings throughout high school and middle school (let's be honest, really since I was able to change out my earrings after they got pierced as a birthday present in fourth grade at icing aka Claire's). However, when I went to college I realized that wearing pearl studs meant you didn't have to scrounge around looking for a pair of earrings in my jewelry organizer, they matched everything, and I could wear them non-stop and just take them out to shower. Since then, I have been converted to a studs person. Yes, I do change it up some but on a day to day basis I am probably rocking pearl studs or my favorite bow earrings from Kate Spade. So I thought I would share some stud earrings that have caught my eye recently. These are perfect for work or even giving as a gift since they are all under $50 a pair some are even under $25 with the Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom.

Stud

And I spotted a few other pairs I admire from Swell Caroline when shopping their bangle sale and I had to share these pineapple studs that are under $30.

Are you a fan of stud earrings?
Do you have go-to daily jewelry?

Miscellany Monday {Weekend Update/Currently}

Hey y'all,

Sorry to disappear for a week. It was a busy week getting my new roommate settled, mattress shopping, and of course doing the normal things like work. However, it's the start of the month and I already have some posts planned for the upcoming week so hopefully radio silence won't occur a lot in August. Also, sorry for the lack of pictures it was a really quiet/cleaning weekend.

Friday
Friday night I had a nice night in, I went to Taco Bell after consistently talking to someone about it (I go maybe 4 times a year) and then proceeded to have a night of folding laundry, watching Hotel Transylvania 2, finishing season 4 of Elementary and staying up until almost 5am since I had caffeine with dinner. Yep. Not a good thing.

Saturday
Since the whole not going to bed until 5am, I ended up waking up at 10am having missed my typical cycle class. I talked to my parents for a while, did the dishes,  read for a bit, and debated about running errands but instead worked on posting items to my Poshmark closet. At 3:30pm I headed to church to teach my preschoolers, attended church and then made it to Kohls to return a mattress foam pad and then made it home for dinner and watching more Hulu.

Sunday
Since I attend church on Saturday, Sundays are my day of rest. They began with some devotional time and then meeting my old roommate Meghan to help her move her dinning table out. After that happened, I made my list and headed to the grocery store. It's super-double coupon week at the Harris Teeter so while I didn't need a ton of things, I grabbed some staples with my coupons like tomato sauce, Tylenol, and some cereal. I also ran over to Target to get the glamorous Brita filters, a shower curtain liner, and a few items for my church's backpack drive.
Meghan came back that afternoon to grab her mattress, box springs, and bed frame and I decided it was time for a workout. After a quick 30min cardio session it was time to tackle some of the mess in my room-shredding documents, filing some things away, putting away laundry, etc.
The rest of the evening was spent talking to my roommate Betsy. We did adult things like order a sectional for our living room and a new tv stand.

Watching-Jane the Virgin. My new roommate Betsy has declared it will be our first binge-watching show.

Listening-When I'm not listening to KLove I've been obsessed with Hamilton: An American Musical's soundtrack or the soundtrack to Outlander.

Reading-I actually have been back into reading the past week or so. I finished the Love by Numbers series by Sarah MacLean and got back into Elizabeth Boyle with her Rhymes with Love series.

Loving-The message from church this weekend was on Jonah and there were some points that really hit me especially about punishment in regards to provision and our preferences. When the sermon posts online I will link it here.

Wearing-All the dresses! This heat is no joke in NC! I have worn my LOFT striped swing dress on repeat. You can see it in this post.

Eating-Today's meal plan includes Raisin Bran with Almond Milk for Breakfast. Mandarin Oranges for a snack. Either Quiznos or Jimmy Johns for lunch since my salad from Saturday did not keep well in the fridge. Steak, salad and rosemary fries for dinner.

How was your weekend?

Best,
